The Seductress, a wheat tortilla stuffed with hard-cooked eggs, broccoli, avocado, Swiss chard, carrots, and beets ($11.67), is one of five panini offshoots that have turned Heidi Feinstein’s holistic Life Alive cafe in Lowell into sandwich central. After a quick steam, the vegetables are placed on a tortilla and grilled open-face until the filling melds into a warm delight. Feinstein also adds nutritional yeast and liquid aminos (derived from soybeans) and rolls the sandwich like a burrito. The result is dense and filling and could toss carnivores off the chuck wagon for good.
